  3. Valentine Date Night In with Guest Blogger Nicole L. from Probably Polka Dots

Since Valentine’s Day falls on a Sunday this year, I am planning the ultimate date night in. And yes, you read that right…I’m planning Valentine’s Day this year.

Ladies, we have to admit that we set our Valentine’s Day expectations a little high.

Sometimes, they’re met or even surpassed. Other times, we’re left wondering where the disconnect was. Either way, there’s a lot of pressure on our partners to create a great date, and this year, I am taking the pressure off of my husband and preparing a date just for him:

A Valentine’s Day Date Night In

When I thought about what the perfect date night in would look like for my husband, I thought about a few of his favorite things, and tops of the list is a good beer. Admittedly, I am not a huge beer drinker, but for this sweet holiday, I can make an exception.

I also knew that a great date night in couldn’t stop with beer…we had to eat, too! And that’s when it came to me: we love charcuterie platters when we go out to dinner, and while typically paired with wine, who says you can’t pair beer with cheese? Finally, we would need a little entertainment, and for that, we’ll be relying on good old Netflix (complete with candy, of course). After all, the couple that presses play together, stays together.

  4. How to Throw a Galentine’s Day Brunch with Guest Blogger Love Always, Audrey

Call me a cheeseball, but I think Valentine’s Day is just the best. While I’ll celebrate love any day of the year, I think taking one day (or one month in my case) to spoil your loved ones is so, so great. Plus, my favorite color is pink, sooo…

Who all watches Parks & Rec here? Thanks to this hilarious show, a semi-new phenomenon called Galentine’s Day has been making its rounds through women’s apartments everywhere. This holiday typically includes mimosas, some kind of sweet treat (or 7), lots of laughs, and a tooooon of pics. The best part? You don’t have to be single to partake. That’s right! As Leslie Knope said,

“Oh, it’s only the best day of the year. Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home and we just come and kick it breakfast style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.”

Well, who would I be if I didn’t throw a Galentine’s Day soiree of my own? I sure did throw a party, and I’m going to show you how I did it using the vast amount of Valentine’s Day supplies Paper Source has to offer. Read on, lady loves!

Step One: Invite your gal pals over, and have everyone bring something. Potlucks are fun! I personally made a frittata and Funfetti cupcakes. Am I the only person who prefers out-of-the-box Funfetti cupcakes to gourmet ones?

Happy Groundhog Day, everyone! No matter if he saw his shadow or not, we still have some wintertime to get through.

Given that we spend so much time indoors during the winter, I’m always on the lookout for simple ways to make family time fun. We’ve been playing a lot of games together lately, so I thought I’d shake things up a bit and try something different other than traditional board games. Paper Source has a great selection of “outside the box” family games. And when you add in a few little festive details, the kids are extra surprised and excited to try something new!

  7. DIY Valentines — Sweet Without the Sugar! with Guest Blogger Rebecca G. from Not-So-SAHM

a child writing in a valentine's day card

I have to admit that I fall firmly into the camp of loving Valentine’s Day. And I love that my kids are on that bandwagon too. They love to think of kind (and often elaborate) gestures to show people dear to them how they feel. And that includes each other. Seriously.

Now, don’t get me wrong. They spend plenty of time bickering over the most trivial things possible, but when pressed, they’d both answer that they are each other’s best friend. But because so much of the holiday is fueled by candy, I like to help them put together a sweet valentine for each other that sends the love without the sugar.
