Amanda is the creative genius behind the products at Mojo Spa. From the instant you walk through the doors, past the unbelievable window display (it takes their team months to design), you can feel her energy everywhere.
Amanda started her creative career as a chef and spent time experimenting with different natural ingredients to care for her own sensitive skin. (We Chicagoans can relate to the struggle of keeping skin hydrated through the winter and healthy all summer long!) Amanda found an affinity for hosting parties for her friends where she featured homemade lip balms and skin care products – from there, things picked up.
Amanda pays special attention to holistic skin care methods and learning about ways to harness the power of nature. This led her to develop a lipstick line four years before she started her own line – and we are so thankful she did! Mixing products in her loft let her maintain control over the ingredients and production method, and today her hand-picked team works closely with her to make sure her legacy remains intact.
Mojo Spa’s brick-and-mortar store opened in 2003, and to this day, Amanda and her team of approximately 25 creative souls design the labels, emails and website that elevate the products at Mojo Spa. Every item in their Wicker Park store is made in-house, by hand. Amanda’s team really subscribes to the adage “Quality over quantity” because they opt to use all natural ingredients, versus chemicals that can be found in other mass-produced skincare products.
“Just because it’s natural doesn’t mean it’s not powerful,” Amanda says. Her skincare, makeup and soap lines are packed chock-full of remedies found in nature that require only a bit to achieve brilliance. “Less is more” is a phrase Amanda uses a lot in her store because the products she carries are so concentrated that they not only work well but last longer than those that are commercially produced. Her true passion is creating skin care products that have the added benefit of being a makeup product.
From lotions and soaps infused with positively energized water – using tuning forks – to lip balms designed to help you find love with the help of quartz crystals, natural elements are everywhere at Mojo Spa.
