It’s that time of the year again! School is coming to a close and that means it’s time to thank the incredible people who do so much beyond the basics of teaching our children. There are a myriad of people at our kids’ school who have dedicated themselves to helping our children grow as people, cultivate their creativity and a love of learning, and make school a joyous place to go each day. There simply isn’t a way to thank them enough, but I like to try by putting together a meaningful gift that shows our gratitude.

DIY photo album

I’m one of Kane’s room parents this year, which means I get to help organize the class gift (yay!). When I asked him to tell us about the things his teachers really loved, he said immediately that they both loved to laugh. So we came up with the idea to make an album for the teachers full of each child’s photo and favorite joke. Paper Source has a great selection really beautiful album and journals, so I started there. I wanted to make the focus of the book the kids’ handwritten jokes, so I focused on keeping the decoration simple — just to add a bit of color. I used a variety of washi tape, alphabet stickers (I have awful handwriting!), and a few scrapbook embellishments to decorate each child’s page differently.

I think it turned out beautifully and I can’t wait to give it to Kane’s teachers!
