We at Paper Source value our maker partnerships and want to share their stories.

We proudly carry an array of Rifle Paper Co. products from notepads to a special recipe box with Anna Bond’s signature style of hand-painted illustrations, vibrant color palettes, and whimsical tones.

In celebration of Mother’s Day we asked the founder of Rifle Paper Co., Anna Bond, to share her most memorable mom moments.

Ever since I was a little girl growing up in New Jersey, I loved to draw and my parents were always incredibly supportive and mindful of fostering the artistic spirit they saw in me.

My mother, who stayed at home to raise me and my brothers before pursuing a teaching career, had been a science major in school, and was always exceptionally crafty.

I remember painting blown-out eggs at Easter, watching her sew Halloween costumes from scratch, or perfectly decorate homemade birthday cakes to match my odd theme requests such as “Gum Ball Machine” (I think she went all out on that particular cake to make up for not buying me the real machine).

I cannot remember a morning when she wasn’t the first one awake, sitting on our porch, writing thoughts and prayers in various notebooks with her impeccable handwriting.

My mother was constantly writing notes to herself, and always kept a detailed calendar. It was after years of her asking me to create something she could use for all of her notes that I actually designed our appointment calendar with her in mind.

We lived about 30 minutes outside of New York City and, although my parents never ventured into the city much, they allowed me (or maybe realized they couldn’t stop me) to start taking the train in on my own to explore while I was in high school.

I usually found myself wandering the streets observing all the different characters or getting lost in the halls of The Met soaking in all the inspiration I could find. Those trips were so influential in exposing me to a creative world and igniting the spark in me to create something much bigger than myself. To this day, New York still has the power to rekindle that same creative fire in me.

It took a long time to realize that my creative passion was not solely for painting, but for a distinct fusion of painting and graphic design. Soon after college, I began designing wedding invitations–my own included–when something clicked; I found myself falling in love with designing stationery and products as it was the perfect mix of art and design.

At the time, the stationery industry seemed to lack a brand with my aesthetic: lush, feminine, hand-painted designs with vibrant colors and a vintage nod on quality paper.

So in the fall of 2009, my husband and I set out to launch a stationery brand, and Rifle Paper Co. was born.

Beautiful design, functionality and quality are the core of our brand. I’m endlessly inspired by travel, nature, fashion, and vintage art. I design products that I would use myself and also try to listen to what our customers are asking for.

For the past few years planners were our top-requested product. Our creative team spent a long time designing and testing planners that would be both beautiful and incredibly functional in everyday use. They’re now my favorite product that we carry.

As we look forward as a brand, I am excited about going beyond stationery and designing more home and lifestyle products. And as a new mother, I am eager to watch my son grow and to foster his own interests and talents in the same way that was done for me so he might feel the same freedom to go after his dreams.”

Such gorgeous designs! I was on my way back to Miami from Orlando when we decided it was important enough to Make a stop in West Palm beach to go to Paper Source. We ended up buying 4 sheets of paper among other stuff and two of those were these gorgeous Rifle papers. Thank you so much! Can’t wait to buy more Rifle products.

I live in a NY suburb as well, in a town in southern Westchester. I can relate to being inspired by the vast amounts of ever changing design found all over Manhattan so this made me very happy to see. Amazing designs and I can’t wait to see more in the future.

I love your designs. They remind me of pictures from my childhood from books and paintings at my grandparents homes and my own. I would love to see you make Wallpaper and pillow cases and fabric.

    in such a sincere, meaningful manner. I’m a young-at-heart
67-year-old who adores all of your creations, especially the
mint green wrap you made for The Paper Source. Carry on
helping spread beauty in our currently less-than-wonderful world! Your son and many others will be among the many
happy beneficiaries of your upbeat and educational
designs. I wish you and your family only continued good
    fortune!

Just waiting for the iPhone 7 Plus case to come out in the mint floral pattern- it’s so beautiful! I just hope its a highly protective case, so it is a perfect choice for my new 7Plus!

Love, love, love just everything you design! I’m wondering how many pages are in your journals and notebooks, it isn’t mentioned I believe!

Will you consider making your papers in a cover stock weight for people like me to use in making hand bound art books and art journals? That would be such a gift to have for creative supply!

  15. Hello Anna,

    • Meg Kowieski says:

It really is a treat to go to the store. Everyone is so helpful and excited when I am there.
