“Who doesn’t love birthdays? It’s always an excuse to have a party and celebrate!!

With Paper Source’s Party Prep Kits, your party is bound to be a hit. I’m excited that the PS team invited me to help celebrate and design a party around one of their new kits.

I chose the Birthday Party Prep Kit because I couldn’t resist the rainbow colors, balloon theme, and mini party hats. This kit is so versatile and can be used to celebrate any birthday!

Using the contents of the kit, I chose to throw a kids birthday party. Balloons and rainbow colors are always a favorite of little girls and boys. To me, the kit is all about playful, bright, and fun color. Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE creating with color – – it brings so much joy!

Balloon Theme and Color Palette

For this celebration, I added creative elements focusing on the balloon theme and color palette.

Nothing says celebrate like balloons, so I used lots of balloons as my backdrop and on the table. The Balloon Arch Kit that Paper Source carries was exactly what I needed to create the impact of the balloons as an arch over the table and surrounding the table. This is a must-have kit – – it was so user-friendly, all you need is a balloon pump and everything else is included in the kit.

There were some smaller balloons as part of the kit that were left over, so I created balloon bouquets for the table – – a whimsical alternative to flowers, especially for a kids party. For the vase, I used a coffee can covered in white paper and some of Paper Source’s Watercolor Rainbow Dot paper – – a favorite of mine from their selection.

I cut out place cards shaped like balloons using the PS paper in coordinating colors and hand wrote each child’s name. I also used the Watercolor Rainbow Dot Paper as part of the party theme because I love the colors and the watercolor feeling of the dots.

In addition to using the paper as fringe for the table and handmade confetti, it was also my inspiration for the backdrop. Using watercolor paints and a pen brush from PS, I created a handmade version of the paper on a larger scale. Not only was it fun to make, it really brought the balloon arch to life and made the table pop!

To complement the balloon-covered paper goods, I chose the mini Balloon Favor Bags.

Food and Entertainment

The food was all about colorful and sweet treats, so I chose the confetti birthday cake from Milk Bar and rainbow black and white cookies. For the drinks, I added iridescent paper straws for a shiny touch.

To keep the “little celebrators” busy, I cut out large sheets of paper for each child to doodle on. Just give them an array of colorful markers and some white paper, and they can draw for hours! It’s a great way to encourage them to use their imaginations, play with color, and engage with their friends.

I love to design creative celebrations, parties, events, classes, and workshops! Conceptualizing and creating a space, environment, or experience that invites people to come together as family, friends, co-workers, or a community really can add so much joy, encourage connection, and leave a lasting impression! Paper Source is always my go-to for inspiration, supplies, and creative fun.
