I’ve never planned a wedding, but when I do, I’m calling Linda (my colleague and regular blog contributor). Look at this easy wedding table card idea she shared with me – just a table tent with a beautiful rubber stamp and an expression note attached with eyelets. We have expression notes printed with wonderful sayings, but you could print your own with words or numbers and use the same design.
I just used our table tents for a baby shower to mark the favor table and baby shower gifts – they’re so easy to use and make an impact. Try them at your next dinner party (a sign to list featured drinks at the bar or items on the buffet), and of course, they’re perfect for a wedding.
This also made me think – what would I use for wedding table names? Have you seen any creative wedding table name ideas?

My favorite table marker idea is using old wedding photographs of family members to mark each table. One table has a photo of the bride’s parents at their wedding, marked by their names. The next could be the groom’s parents, then grandparents, and so on.
I love absolutely love this idea, and the use of family wedding dresses as decor for a wedding.
My sister’s wedding was on St. Patrick’s Day so we used the names of counties in Ireland for each table.

I’m helping a friend plan her wedding, and she’s using vintage animal illustrations on her invites, so each table will have a different animal pictured on it. We’re taking it a step further by making a “zoo map” to hang next to the escort cards so guests can have a vague idea of where their table is located. It’s gonna be so cute!
Some ideas for different “table names” are the names of flowers, which could coordinate with the flowers on the tables and would be great for an outdoor/garden reception; or the traditional anniversary gifts instead of table numbers (such as paper for the 1st, silver for the 25th, etc.) ; or if you were having a very festive and colorful theme, each table could be a different color!
In the sense of all things “green”, and speaking more on guest seat assignments than table names, a few months ago I heard wine corks work well to hold seating assignments (or table names, I’m sure). Just a slit on opposite sides (length wise into curve of cylinder). Easy, cheap, and green!
A great idea I’m considering for our wedding is the names of places you have traveled together. Paris, Santorini, San Francisco, Ireland… it’s a nice way to include your guests in your history as a couple, and a good conversation starter.
For my daughters October wedding, we had the tables named after different kinds of apples. We had an apple at each place setting and we attached a leaf from paper with the guests name on it. We also incorporated apples by cutting the center out and putting a votive candle in it to use along with our centerpieces.
My friend’s daughter is having a “vintage” themed wedding. They have collected interesting, artful, “old” items and are using them as both decorations, and table names. Things like old skeleton keys, vintage hats and handkerchiefs, old photos, etc. Each table will be named for a different vintage object…
