Maker Challenge: Holiday Cards

Holidays are coming and we are planning all the creative touches to add to our seasons greetings. For some of us, that means adding an envelope liner to our favorite design while for others it means making the whole card from scratch. Which describes you? Whatever your approach, we want to see how you make your holiday cards special!

Sending Comfort and Joy

As we settle in to the cooler season and ready ourselves for the holidays we are seeking all the ways we can create comfort and joy. We find those feelings in the ritual of writing holiday cards and hope others feel it too when they open the envelope on the other end. Here are 4 ways to create that cozy holiday feeling:

Find the perfect card: think about how you want them to feel when they open the envelope and pick a design to match!

Set the scene: surround yourself with holiday comforts when writing your cards - music, candles, cocoa and your softest, snuggliest sweater.

Add a special touch: add a thoughtful detail to your cards, like photo, envelope liner, vintage postage or other fun accent.

Make a display: put all your cards on display as you receive them so you can feel close to your loved ones even if they are far away!

What We're Celebrating

Festive Gatherings

This month we are gathering and setting a place at the table for those we call family. One of the simplest ways to make the table festive and create a sense of belonging is with place cards. If you are looking for a quick place card recipe, all you need are these 3 ingredients:

Monthly How‑To

10 Ways to Craft with Paper Leaves

The fall crafting ingredient we are all reaching for this year (well, every year) is a simple pack of paper leaves. We use them when we are trying to whip up a craft recipe with the fewest possible ingredients and we use them when we want to make something more elaborate. We set the table with them, we embellish host gifts with them, we create time-capsules with them, the list goes on. Check out 10 ways you can use them too in the video above!

Who We're Following

Nestled Nook

As we decorate our homes for the holidays and find ways to make every corner cozy we find so much inspiration in @nestled.nook.

Follow Usha for a dose of comfort and joy as she transforms her house in Chicago into a dream home and shares her passion for family, photography, cooking, painting and travel along the way.

Giving Back

As we strive to spread comfort and joy this holiday season, we turn to our surrounding community to those who are doing it year round. Sitting at the edge of our home town of Chicago is Hephzibah in Oak Park. It is Illinois’ oldest standing social service agency that provides care and assistance to a range of children including those who have been abused and neglected. Their mission is to help children thrive and families flourish through innovative, community-based programs including a diagnostic treatment center, home group residence, foster care and adoption, intact family services, affordable day care and more.

We are happy to be giving to Hephzibah Home this season and want to share the incredible work that they are doing.

Starting at Home

The foundation for all our great products is paper. The majority of our paper – the base for wrap, cards & stationery, stickers and more – is created domestically, which means it doesn’t travel the world to get to you!
