Ink on Paper Source X Faye Guanipa

Ink on Paper Source is a collaborative collection from independent artists who inspire us. Discover their creative voices, translated into stationery and wedding invitations exclusively at Paper Source.

Faye Guanipa is an artist and illustrator living in beautiful New England with her husband and three daughters. “For this collection, I wanted to hit a few different niches,” Faye said. She created three unique wedding suites in her signature cheerful vintage aesthetic with a modern twist. “I love a good vintage floral, it’s so ‘classic romance.’ For the black and white diamonds, I was inspired by an old NY Deli aesthetic, the sandwich paper, the signs and menus, I wanted those nostalgic NYC feels. The last group, I wanted to play with a more folksy style, I love the colors and icons of the Norwegian style folk art and wanted to create something cheerful and happy with a whimsical, folksy style.”

“I started professionally working as an illustrator after I had my first daughter, in 2013. I’d been working in corporate as an assistant designer and went home to freelance after she was born. When I was pregnant with my second, I decided I wanted to venture into making my own stationery brand, and that’s when Olive & Company was created. I have since continued to license my artwork for things like puzzles, fabric, and stationery while running Olive & Company out of my home studio.”

“I draw inspiration from all over, old books and magazines, retro packaging, textiles, and nature. I have a background in fashion design, so I am heavily influenced by pattern and vintage style. I usually first spend time gathering my inspiration for a particular design or illustration, create a miniature mood board, then sketch up a few versions before I finalize and render it all in Procreate. Right now, I work mostly digitally, my iPad and Procreate are my best friends. I’d love to dive back into hand painting, but for now, this is the most practical way to work with my current lifestyle.”

When she’s not in her studio feverishly drawing, she said, “You can usually find me crafting or snuggling with my tiny humans, out shopping for the next vintage find, or scouting my next dessert and coffee spot! I love to cook, and more recently I’ve been making bread and butter at home! I’ve also been really interested in learning herbalism so that I can make home-remedies and teas. I’ve got quite a stash now of herbs, homemade teas, and tinctures that we use regularly. It’s my little side hobby.”

“I’m especially grateful that I’ve been able to grow my art career slowly while staying home with my girls and homeschooling. It has allowed me to blend my work with our family life; drawing together, packing orders, and encouraging their own creative sparks, which has made this season feel rich in both motherhood and making.”

“It’s incredible to see my designs carried at Paper Source. As a stationery lover, I have always loved popping into a Paper Source. It’s quite surreal to be a part of their Ink on Paper Source program.” To Explore Faye Guanipa’s Ink on Paper Source collection, click here, check out the Olive & Company website, and follow her on social
