Latina owned and operated, Isabella MG is a San Diego based stationery brand all about cheerful, lighthearted cards and cositas. Cositas, which translates to 'little things' in Spanish, embodies not only the diverse range of fun items in their line but also reflects their commitment to creating products in both English and Spanish. “Our biggest goals are to spread joy and help foster meaningful moments through colorful art within both English and Spanish speaking communities and have lots of fun while doing so!” Isabella Ghazarians, the designer behind the brand shared.
For her Ink on Paper Source collection, she created custom stationery in her signature lighthearted and playful style. When asked what it meant to her to see her designs carried at Paper Source, she shared, “It's genuinely surreal. Paper Source has always been a favorite store of mine and to have my work carried in it is truly something I'm so grateful for!”
Her brand Isabella MG started in 2020. “My business started as a career pivot, I originally designed wedding invitation suites, but when the pandemic hit and weddings stopped, I shifted to designing and selling cards. Haven't looked back since!”
"I'm mostly self-taught. I took a couple of art classes as a kid and in high school, but nothing formal.” She said. Inspiration for her cheerful designs comes from “everyday life, mostly, mixed with cultural moments and a healthy dose of pop culture and trends. I keep a running note in my phone full of card ideas and copy. When the time feels right, I sit down with my paints and bring the idea to life. My go-to is gouache paint! I started with acrylics as a kid, then moved to watercolor, but gouache turned out to be the perfect middle ground. The opaqueness, the matte finish, the way it layers, I love!”
When asked what she is most proud of as a working artist, she said “Being able to weave both of my cultures, Mexican and American, into one cohesive brand. Creating cards and products in Spanish so that people feel seen is something truly special to me.”
