Ink On Paper Source X Mokshini

Ink on Paper Source is a collaborative collection from independent artists who inspire us. Discover their creative voices, translated into stationery and wedding invitations exclusively at Paper Source.

"It’s been a goal of mine for a long time to collaborate with a stationery brand I love, and I’ve always adored Paper Source. I love the idea of making my art more accessible and seeing it live on every day, functional objects. I’m such a stationery fan myself, so this collaboration feels very special to me,” designer Mokshini said. “It’s also pushed me to think about my work in a different way, taking what I do and simplifying it into something functional and usable as cards and letters. That's something I haven’t it’s really exciting.”

"For my summer Ink on Paper Source collection, I was inspired by womanhood and friendship. I wanted to capture that sense of joy and connection through playful scenes by the pool, which made for a really vibrant color palette. I enjoyed bringing all my favorite elements together: women, summer, and water!” She created custom stationery and journals in a style she described as “as loose but tight, with a lot of juxtaposition. I love combining beauty with something unexpected or funny, like a beautiful fashion scene with a trash can or a rat in the background. My work is humorous, whimsical, and extremely vibrant, but most importantly, I want it to feel joyful and uplifting, even when there’s a deeper or darker meaning underneath. It’s also very grounded in reality. I love drawing relatable people and places, which is why observation is such a big part of my practice."

"For my upcoming winter collection, I’ve been inspired by the funny, everyday moments of the holiday season. A woman untangling Christmas lights, someone carrying home the perfect Christmas tree, or a little boy watching the first snowfall from a window. I love those little snapshots of anticipation, excitement, and humor that make the holidays feel so special.” she said.

"Art has been a huge part of my life for as long as I can remember, but my career really evolved naturally. After my bachelor’s in fashion design, a mentor encouraged me to pursue my master’s in illustration and design, which was the first time I saw illustration as a viable career. I taught fashion illustration while doing my master’s, and after moving to America, I got a job at Ralph Lauren. That experience gave me the confidence to eventually go freelance and start reaching out to brands and magazines I admired. So really, it was a process of building confidence and following opportunities as they came. To date I have immersed myself in everything from textile design, children’s books, editorial, brand partnerships and now stationary!” she said.

“I draw inspiration from everything around me.  I’m an observer, and I love watching people interact, those small moments of joy, laughter, or sadness. That’s why I love being in the city, surrounded by so many eclectic personalities and unique moments. I’m really a storyteller, and I love composing an image through the people, clothing, setting, and lighting to tell a story without needing a thousand words.”
“My creative process varies depending on the project, but it usually starts with a quick thumbnail or a scribbled idea. I keep a journal filled with little compositions, angles, and ideas that I can revisit and develop later. From there, I flesh out the image and hand-paint it using acrylic or watercolor. I’m very grounded in traditional mediums because I love mixing my own colors and creating unique combinations. The painting itself is probably my favorite part because, once the composition is figured out, it becomes quite meditative.”
“Once it’s finished, I scan it and make minor digital adjustments, like color correcting and cleaning it up for print. But I always love keeping those hand-done elements, like splatters and texture, that make the final image feel alive. I love working with acrylic, watercolor, and ink, often starting with watercolor and layering acrylic on top to create a juxtaposition between loose and tight, texture and detail, while using ink for expressive line work and hiding tiny little Easter eggs throughout my pieces.”

“I think being an artist is a very nonlinear journey, and that’s part of what makes it challenging and rewarding. I’m proud that I’ve developed a distinct voice and style in the commercial world, but I also feel like I’m entering a new chapter.  I’m now interested in exploring different mediums and processes, especially large-scale work and murals that feel more experiential. I think I’m most proud of continuing to find my voice and discover new sides of myself through art.
