Icinori
Icinori is a studio of designers, visual artists, screen printers, and publishers specializing in art books, prints, animated books, and concertinas. At its core, Icinori is a unified creative force—one soul with two heads and four hands—belonging to Mayumi Otero (French-Spanish-Japanese) and Raphaël Urwiller (French). The pair met at the École Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs of Strasbourg and founded Icinori in 2007 while still students.
Since then, they have traveled, observed, and drawn together with painstaking precision. Considered modern heirs to master printmakers, Otero and Urwiller craft a bold style informed by Renaissance art, master engravers like Goya and Dürer, Chinese outsider art, Japanese pop posters, and vintage ephemera. Through their independent publishing house, they actively challenge the conventional object of the book. Blending classical printmaking with pop influences, the duo boasts over 30 publications—including the Louis Vuitton Seoul Travel Book—alongside features in top international press (The New Yorker, Le Monde) and exhibitions spanning from Paris to Seoul.
