Ink on Paper Source Artist Spotlight X Catie Miller
Meet Catie Miller, one of the talented Ink on Paper Source artists. Discover the artist’s creative voices, translated into stationery and wedding invitations exclusively at Paper Source.

Catie Miller primarily works in ceramics with an illustration-driven process. For the custom Ink on Paper Source collection, she created a line of stationery, including custom journals, stamps, and more in her unique style. “My goal is to create work that feels vibrant and joyful but also sparks a sense nostalgia. What keeps me inspired is the idea that these moments, while specific to me, often overlap with other people’s experiences.”

She describes her work as “colorful, illustrative, and pattern-driven, with a focus on storytelling through surface design.”
“I combine simplified, graphic imagery with layered patterns to create playful, full compositions,” she said. She aims for each piece in her collection to feel thoughtful, functional, and fun to use every day.

A lifelong artist, Catie reminisced on childhood days in her grandfather’s workshop as an early spark of her creativity. “I loved watching him turn simple materials into something meaningful. That idea of making something from nothing really stuck with me.”
After earning her degree in Art Education then working in museums and nonprofit spaces, she took the leap in 2016 to focus solely on building her business. “I had a lot of encouragement from my husband, who suggested I “try it for a year”, and I’ve been building my business full-time ever since. Turns out, that one-year trial period stuck.”

“I’m really drawn to simple moments that might seem ordinary but hold a lot of meaning. A lot of my inspiration comes from everyday moments and small, personal memories. My work is known for bright colors, playful patterning, and illustrated surfaces, and much of that imagery comes from things I experience in daily life, like gardening, birdwatching, or watching my kids catch minnows and dig for worms.” These references are exemplified in her illustrations, creating a composition that feels both personal and familiar.
In her Ink on Paper Source collection, the custom designs are inspired by the beauty of everyday moments and a sense of play. “I wanted the pieces to feel lighthearted and a little nostalgic, something that could bring personality to everyday stationery, whether it’s a note, invitation, or even a stamped envelope. Overall, the goal was to create designs that feel joyful, approachable, and connected to the small moments that make up daily life.”

As for what it means to her to be featured in the Ink on Paper Source collection, she described it as a pinch-me moment. “I’ve shopped at Paper Source for years, so seeing my work there is pretty special. I love that my designs get to exist beyond pottery and show up in everyday things like cards, notepads, and stamps. I’ve always admired the artists Paper Source works with, so being included in that mix feels really cool.”
