How are quilling cards made?

What is the history of quilling cards?

Quilling is a very old practice that has unknown origins but is believed to have come from either ancient Egypt or China. During the Renaissance period, monks and nuns decorated their religious books with paper filagree similar to what is known as quilling today. The artform has later found itself in the homes of wealthy European ladies who took up quilling as a hobby. Today quilling has renewed popularity in quilled greeting cards that continue to appeal to audiences around the world.
