Codenames by Vlaada Chvátil

Item 8594156310318
Sale price$24.95
The two rival spymasters know the secret identities of 25 agents. Their teammates know the agents only by their CODENAMES.

The teams compete to see who can make contact with all of their agents first. Spymasters give one-word clues that can point to multiple words on the board. Their teammates try to guess words of the right color while avoiding those that belong to the opposing team. And everyone wants to avoid the assassin.

Such a fun game!

"I love this game! It's always a must play any time I am hosting friends over. Quick to get the hang of as well!"

Perfect for group gatherings!

"Secret agents, and spies, and assassins, oh my! I highly recommend this fantastic game for group gatherings. It's simple, yet well designed and has endless replay value - the board will never be the same twice. It took just about 10 minutes to learn. After a couple tries, we got the hang of it. I love interactive word games. You can play with two people, but it's much more fun with more participants. You'll only need two teams, but there is no limit to the size of the teams - no one has to get left out! Codenames is officially added to my collection of party games. If you like this, be sure to check out other versions like Codenames Duet and Codenames The Simpsons."

A Huge Hit at Parties and Gatherings

"My friends and I would always play Codenames at parties, and even played the online version during the recent lockdowns to stay in touch. It's a great blend of easy-to-learn gameplay while still being a brain teaser, and always a hit. You can even play with just two people!"

An instant favorite!

"So much fun. And perfect if you enjoy games like Password. Codenames is a new twist on the cooperative guessing game. Everyone I have introduced it to has gone out to buy their own copy."

One of our favorite party board game

"We play Codenames during our family gathering, even our 10-year old kids are understanding how to play and enjoying the game. It is a easy, fast, and yet we don't win by luck, but by strategy!"

An Excellent Party Game

"Codenames is a great game to play with crowds that enjoy Taboo, Catchphrase, and similar word association games—but with a bit of Battleship and Memory energy thrown in. The setup is a grid of 25 cards with words on them, and each of two teams match with 8 or 9 of them, but only the clue givers (spymasters) know which cards belong to which team. During their turn, each spymaster provides a one-word clue that may apply to multiple cards in the grid (so they might say bird, two in hopes of getting their team to select the two cards that read robin and duck). The catch is that you don’t want to inadvertently guess your opposing team’s cards—or worse, the assassin card, which is game over. It rewards cleverness, memory, and a bit of risk-taking. Codenames is easy to learn for a variety of ages and fairly quick to complete—it’s been a longtime hit at family and game night gatherings, and it feels fresh each time you play!"
