Never gonna say no to a cookie compilation

"I mean, look. It's a cookie compilation. Easy to love but never gonna be ground breaking. I really enjoy the "table of cookies" variation on a table of contents with tiny top down photos of each cookie instead of a plain list. So cute. And I'm really excited to see recipe authors I already know and love (like Yossy Arefi) featured. But in the end, a cookie compilation is a cookie compilation, and if I'm going to buy a one for myself or as a gift, it will probably be a local one over one that has New York Times branding. Ten Speed Press provided me with a free copy of this book; the opinions are my own."

My new favorite cookbook

"I've been making a few of these cookies for years now (NYT Cooking) and to have them assembled in a book alongside other recipes brings me so much JOY. The book starts off with its table of contents presented in a picture format, which is just plain fun. You can't miss the Egg Nog Snickerdoodles, the Earl Grey Sugar Cookies or the old fashion Chocolate Chip Cookies (Jacque Torres!!). Not only do you get wonderful recipes from Vaughn, but you get a ton more from contributing chefs. Ten Speed Press provided me with a free copy of this book; my opinions are my own."

Reliable Recipes for People Who Love Cookies

""We want to make sure all of our recipes are foolproof . . . I know how special a cookie can be to make, give and receive, and I want the experience of baking them to be as seamless as possible. I know this instills confidence in our home cooks. " (NYT Cooking and Vaughn Vreeland, page 9) So begins Cookies, a glossy 100-recipe cookbook that lives up to its name. Baking is fun again, and the guesswork that I often play with digital recipes is completely sidelined with this excellent, easy-to-follow guide. Yes, I have confidence in this collection! Thanks, Vaughn! The illustrated "Table of Cookies" (instead of "Table of Contents") is my favorite part of this book. In a quick capture, I can see all the recipes and a thumbnail photograph of the finished product, organized by chapters such as "Dough to Done in 30 Minutes," "Five Star Recipes," "One Bowl," and more. Classic Date Bars, Crinkle Cookies, and Tea Cakes sit alongside more unique recipes for Millionaire's Shortbread, Salted Margarita Bars, and Saffron Pistachio Blondies. There's a cookie for every mood! Recipes show time involved, number of cookies made per batch, directions, and ingredients listed in both non-metric and metric measurements. Every cookie has a finished photo, which makes this cookbook feel complete. Home chefs will also appreciate the tips sprinkled throughout, including advice about an alteration, seasonal advice, or even a pairing for the cookies. This is a cookbook for people who love cookies and who want reliable, proven recipes to make them. --------------------- Ten Speed Press provided me with a free copy of this book; the opinions are my own."

OMG! Delicous!

"This cookbook by Vreeland includes a quick table of contents such as 'Choose your own Chocolate Chip Cookie', 'Fun, Fruity and Tart', etc. We then jump into the introduction where Vreeland explains how he got into his love for baking from his Nannie and how it continues with his job on the New York Times Cooking Show. I enjoyed his section on 'Need help Deciding'with titles such as 'One Bowl for Minimal Cleanup'or 'Especially for Kids'and follows with a Table of Cookies which shows a picture of every cookie in the book. Lastly, we now get into the heart of the book about the recipes. This was my favorite part because I am a baker at heart and love to bake cookies. I went in and tried the following recipes (Best Chocolate Chip Cookie, Orange, Pistachio, Chocolate Shortbread, Rainbow Rave Cookies, Brown Sugar Anise Cookies and finally Cinnamon Toast Cookies) which came out amazing and have now been added to my list of holiday baking. The recipes were easy to follow; measurements were in both metric and volume, plus each recipe included tips to help when making each cookie. This is a keeper that should be added to your cookbook shelf. I highly recommend it. I would like to thank Ten Speed Press for providing me with a free copy for an honest review."
