"i discovered this books several years ago, in a Barnes and Noble store. All it took, was the reading of one passage, "What do you want to be when you grow up?", the Response was, "I want to be kind. " I bought the book on the spot. Over the years, I must have bought at least 30 copies of this book, to give to other people. I am not done yet!! The companion book is also excellent!!"

The story is so beautifully written and illustrated and speaks to our souls in a way that is rarely seen anymore in these troubled times we are in. I cannot recommend this book (and its sequel) highly enough. I feel it should be in every home, whether or not there are children present. Hooray for love and kindness!"

As for hard to read, reading with children is a gift and one that produces questions is a bonus. Maybe go read this again with no expectation and see what happens.
