No Seeds

"I bought this at my local B&N, super excited to try it out. I opened my kit and to my surprise, NO SEEDS. Why claim that the kit will include everything you need when it doesn't even come with seeds???"

Sprouted 3 baby trees

"Got this in December. Soaked it in water a couple of days longer than I should have. Kept it in fridge to stratify as directed (again a few days longer since I'm very forgetful). Planted 3 seeds in the peat and pot from the kit. Kept it in a ziplock after adding water and left it in window sill. It sprouted a couple of weeks later. But again, forgot about it. Didn't know what to do with the 3 baby trees, so I just checked in on them every once in a while making sure the bag still had moisture. Six months later, just bought some bonsai soil and re-potted one in a ceramic 3 inch pot in June and kept one in the little pot from kit. Keeping it by a bright window. Perhaps my forgetfulness and patience helped a little. Now I just have to read up on how to keep it alive and healthy."

Extremely deceived

"I received the kit as a gift in March 2020. I carefully followed the instructions, but up to now nothing came out."

I wish that it would have grown, but sadly, it did not. The instru . . .

Useless

"The bonsai kit came without the peat pellet or the seeds, rendering it pretty useless. It was a stocking stuffer from my daugthers to my husband - a disappointment on Christmas morning. . . . . I gave this one star because it wouldn't let me give zero."

Four kits and no sprouts

"It's a cool idea, but it stops there. I bought two kits and my mother bought two kits. Not a single seed sprouted. Followed the instructions to a T. Maybe we're just unlucky."

Great stocking stuffer!

"Takes some effort but if you enjoy things like origami and plants/gardening activities this is a great project. Recommend for youth and teens on up."

Missing pieces!

"So, two days ago my boyfriend bought me one of these for my dorm room, and the soil and seeds were missing. I decided to read the book before opening the bag of supplies, so, after about 10 minutes of flipping through it, I poured the contents out of the bubble wrap to find: a pair of scissors, and a small pot. Nothing else. This item was shrink wrapped as I bought it, and I removed the plastic myself, so how did the assembly line miss putting in the very things needed to grow my miniature, oxygen giving tree?"

Perfect Gift for a Friend Abroad

"What would you buy for an old friend whom you haven't seen for years and the friend lives abroad? I opted for a Mini Bonsai Kit for my college roommate who, as I later learned, brought it to her office and placed it next to her PC. She loves compact, meaningful and green gifts. I considered a flower in a pot but doubting that it would make it to Germany brought me to Barnes and Noble to look for a warm reminder that her friend knows her very well and remembers good old days. The kit is not kitschy or pretentious. It requires minimal care and provokes only positive feelings. Plus it is affordable and shipable."
