"I read this book in a store, and I was disgusted. The book advocates "snot coming out of your nose" laughter, with an unnecessary reference to "snot"; laughing "at" Grandpa instead of with him; and defying parental authority by trying to come with a "better argument" against eating brussels sprouts because they "smell like sweat socks," the argument the parent rejected. Children of the supposed target age are hardly able to make sound judgments and should not be encouraged make multiple attempts to try to "convince" a parent to go along with the child's dislikes rather than follow the parent's legitimate reasons. Avoid this book like the plague."
"Ask questions. Laugh a lot. Use your voice. Work hard. Just be you. Those are the five steps to becoming a purple person. Being a purple person has nothing to do with what you look like and everything to do with how you act and treat other people. It is using your voice to ask questions and to laugh, to be kind and to work hard and most importantly to be the best you, you can be. The World Needs More Purple People has a great message of inclusion, acceptance and kindness, and is perfect to help kids (adults too!) understand the impact of their actions on others."
