Charming and Clever

"his clever Hanukkah picture book celebrates the holiday with a fun new twist. Every family has their own holiday traditions, and Ruthie's family has a Hanukkah pajama party at the end of the holiday. When Ruthie receives her Hanukkah themed pajamas along with her other presents on the first night of the holiday, she loves them so much that she wants to wear them for the whole eight days. Although she is warned to try and keep them spotless until the party, accidents happen. All the family activities like cooking latkes, eating sufganiyot (Jelly Doughnuts) and chocolate gelt, lighting the candles and various crafts each cause a messy stain on her pj's. But through it all, Ruthie keeps a positive attitude. Her pajamas dont have SPOTs, but streaks and splotches! This charming story which shows a variety of Hanukkah activists, highlight the fact that it is a family holiday. I love the fact that her parents support her desire to wear the pajamas the whole time and accept all the mishaps. The funny story is made that much better with the fantastic colorful illustrations by Olga and Aleksey Ivanov. Their pictures always make a book that much more fun. This book would make a fantastic Hanukkah gift to any Jewish youngster!"

Sweet Hanukkah story for messmakers!

"A sweet Hanukkah story celebrating the best-intentioned messmakers in every family! A great introduction to Jewish family traditions for non-Jewish readers. A funny story that celebrates holiday tradition, sibling relationships, and creative kids that all families can relate to! Highly recommend!"

Fun and festive

"A fun and festive picture book about celebrating traditions. Learn about the Jewish holiday in a creative and kid-friendly way. Also a great opportunity to discuss the word 'spotless'. What exactly does that word mean? Are streaks and splotches considered spots? Are sparkly and spotty the same thing? This book is messy, lively, and lots of fun."

Darling story about Hanukkah and pajamas

"Very cute story about a kid who can't wait to wear her special pajamaakkahs until the big night and tries her hardest (sort of) to keep them clean. A fun celebration of Hanukkah and pajamas."

Lovely celebration of Hanukkah & a fun read-aloud!

"This is a super kid-relatable picture book that builds and builds and builds! Ruthie wants to wear her new pajamakkahs all eight days of Hanukkah, but being a kid is messy. Young readers will admire Ruthie’s determination and adore the humor and darling illustrations. HANUKKAH PAJAMAKKAHS by Dara Henry, Olga Ivanov, and Aleksey Ivanov is a wonderful celebration of Hanukkah and a fun read aloud with loads of onomatopoeia!"

Adorable read for hanukkah fun

"A sweet and funny book — lighthearted and fun, with a cute focus on pajamas and the excitement of Hanukkah. The illustrations really add to the fun family holiday vibes, and the fun of pajamas getting progressively messier kept my kids super interested."

Entertaining Family Fun

"In this fun read-out-loud story, young Ruthi gets a new set of pajamas. How to keep them spotless? Try after try, she fails, and with each attempt, she may have a mess, but they are spotless. Young readers learn about Hanukkah and the cultural traditions around the holiday. The story is a fun read for both parents and children."

Learning new traditions in a sweet story

"Reading this story with our children was truly delightful! While the stories of little Ruthie’s accidents and spills are relatable to all parents and children, the holiday traditions of the Jewish faith are interwoven throughout the story and give a lesson to those who are unfamiliar with those customs. The words are entertaining and the illustrations are beautiful! Wonderfully done!"
