Badass Read
"I first found this book when I just turned 20 and was dealing with full time school & work as well as ending a long term relationship. This book taught me to put myself first and gave me helpful tips on how to be a better version of myself. This book was such an easy and fun read and I recommend it to anyone searching for a self help book. 10/10"

I've been trying to find a book to help me because I suffer from l . . .
"I've been trying to find a book to help me because I suffer from low self esteem, chronic illness, depression, anxiety, and I'm trying to find what purpose I have or what makes me super passionate. I thought this one would be it, however, the further I get with this book, the more I dislike it. I was first turned off by the quote,""""Incessant self-deprecating humor is for losers. """" This is a self-help book, so why is it putting down someone who is trying to get help? Maybe I'm too offended because that kind of humor is a coping mechanism for me, but it also really makes me laugh. So I've learned that I am a loser. Others also mention the quote about trying to act like a person without depression. I've also heard similar statements made in real life, for example,""""Have you. . . ya know. . . tried not being sad? It's easy!"""" Do you. . . ya know. . . . know that depression is an actual medically-recognized disorder? Also, I'm not sure how visualizing will make things come true or easier. I can visualize being student debt free, but not for almost 30 or more years. I didn't have the privilege of having my parents pay for my education. My last quote I have a problem with is,""""When you hang out with whiners, pessimists, tweakers, bleakers, freakers-outers and life is so unfairers, it's an uphill climb to keep yourself in a positive headspace. Stay away from people with tiny minds and tiny thoughts and start hanging out with people who see limitless possibility as the reality. """" The people who are those types are the ones who need love and friendship the most. Suggesting that we should get rid of them in our lives because they're messing up our """"positive headspace"""" is cruel. I'm going to try to complete the rest of this book, but I have to give it a one star immediately for all these comments already from a SELF-HELP book. key word being HELP."

"Just purchased this book based on all the excellent reviews. I haven't finished it completely yet but I'm already 200 pages in and, so far, I'm not feeling """"badass"""" at all. Maybe something in the final pages will turn the tide but I'm not particularly optimistic. If nothing I've read in this book has resonated with me by now, it likely won't going forward. Disappointed. . . I was looking for some hope that things could really change in my life. Unfortunately, I'm not finding it here."

"OMG, this book was so, so good. The message was exactly what I needed to hear. So much craziness is going on in my life right now and I find myself doubting my greatness every. . . single. . . day. The point Jen Sincero makes in this self-help book is we are all great, we all have enormous potential, we all possess the power to succeed at absolutely everything we direct our energy towards, but we are also our very own obstacle. Ms. Sincero identifies common thought processes and behaviors that keep us from living a truly awesome life and she coaches the reader on how to identify them, replace them, and move forward like a bad*ss. The first half of this book was absolutely perfect in my opinion - my favorite chapters were the ones about the power of gratitude. The later chapters got a little too new-age for my personal taste, with all the talk about the universe, vibrating energies, and controlling frequencies, but I could see where she was going with it. I benefited from this book and plan to implement some of the suggestions. . . I already have actually :). It really is great and I highly recommend it. Check it out! My favorite quote: “And while there are countless ways that we rip ourselves off, there’s one way in particular that is, without a doubt, the most rampant and the most devastating of all: we invest everything we’ve got in believing that we’re not good enough. ”"
